An irradiation bench has a sub-frame, a lying part firmly connected thereto and an upper part pivotable about an axis of rotation, as well as UV lamps at least in the upper part for irradiation of a subject lying on the lying part. At least one circularly bent guide rail is firmly arranged so as to project laterally on the upper part. Guide rolls for the guide rail are rotatably mounted on the sub-frame. The centre of gravity of the upper part in an interim position is located between the closed and open positions of the upper part vertically above the axis of rotation. As a result of this, the upper part moves automatically from the interim position into its open or closed position.
