The plug-in connector includes a tensioning sleeve or casing seated around rigid guide sleeves (2,3) accommodating the ends of two optical fibres. The inner dia. of the tensioning sleeve reduces slightly from either end to the middle, and the sleeve is provided with several long slits (4) distributed uniformly over the periphery of the sleeve. The slits (4) are arranged to spread outwards as the otpical fibre guide sleeve is inserted the actual dia.of the guide sleeves being greater than the min. dia. of the tensioning sleeve.
