Conventional containers have essentially tubular supports, in which case the strain gauge devices used for measuring the filling level have to be arranged on at least two opposite sides of each support. This requires a large number of strain gauges and a corresponding outlay in terms of circuitry. In order to make the filling-level measurement simpler and to expose it to fewer sources of error, the new container is provided with supports whose cross-sectional profile has a web extending in the region of the neutral axis of the supports. If the strain gauge devices are arranged on this web, one strain gauge device per measuring location is sufficient since compensation of the support deflection under the container load is no longer necessary. The invention is particularly suitable for hoppers.
