A base or fastening plate, which comprises a diecasting or a punched sheet-steel part shaped by pressing, is preferably used for fastening the hinge arm of a furniture hinge. It has a bore or a hole, provided with a beaded border, into which there is partially screwed a self-tapping fastening screw which retains a part to be fastened and whose border located on the underside of the fastening plate is at a distance, accommodating the projection of the screwed-in fastening screw beyond said border, from the bearing surface of the base plate. In order that such a base or fastening plate ensures that the pre-mounted fastening screw has a secure and centred fit and, during final mounting, the fastening screw can be tightened completely without expending any great amount of force, the screw (7) is provided with a thread without a rounded tip and is screwed in in advance over the entire depth of the bore or of the hole (Fig. 4). <IMAGE>
