A reversing gearbox (41) is connected between a flywheel (40) driven by an engine (1) and a hydromechanical torque divider transmission (2) driving the final drive train (11) of a vehicle. The said gearbox permits a direct transmission of power from the flywheel (40) to the input shaft (9) of the torque divider transmission in forwards travel. For reverse travel, the reversing gearbox (41) is internally reversed and then produces a reversal of the direction of rotation of all shafts of the torque divider transmission (2). In addition, a gearing ratio inside the reversing gearbox then becomes operative, which at reduced speed permits the transmission of a higher drive torque compared to forwards travel. <IMAGE>
