The device for converting solar energy into heat comprises a solar collector consisting of a large number of collector elements (1) which can be fixed on a support surface, interconnected and connected to a heat-transfer fluid system. These collector elements in each case have, in addition to a first heat-transfer fluid duct (6) facing the sun, a second duct (7) which is aligned transversely to the first duct (6) and is in contact with the ambient air. The first duct (6) is in normal operating position connected to a first accumulator (36) for higher temperatures and the second duct (7) is connected to a second accumulator (38) for temperatures which are lower in relation to the first accumulator (36). If the temperature of the circulating heat-transfer fluid falls below a predetermined minimum value which is determined by a temperature sensor (42), the first duct (6) can be separated from the first accumulator (36) via a reverse valve (44) and connected to the second accumulator (38). To achieve particularly high capacity with small dimensions, the first duct (6) is, with its upper side situated below a light-permeable cover (8), directly in contact with the ambient air exclusively when the temperature falls below a predetermined value and the second cover-free duct (7) is, both with its upper side and with its lower side, constantly directly in contact with the ambient air.

|
