PURPOSE:To set an image area according to the longitudinal and lateral size of a recording medium when only the size of the recording medium in a main scanning direction is detected and to report outside that the subscanning- directional size is not detected at the same time. CONSTITUTION:An image editing device B sets an image area on a bit map memory B2 in normal mode wherein the image area is set by using both pieces of information on the width and length of a recording form and in special mode wherein the image area is set by using only the information on the width. Those modes are selected with selection keys of the console panel of an operation part A3. There is a mode display element adjacently to the selection keys and pilot lamps illuminate corresponding to the selected mode. The main scanning direction is the width direction and the special mode is therefore selected at the time of the information regarding only the width. The form is standardized, so the information is stored in the memory of a CPU. |
