PACKAGING METHOD OF OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To enable mechanically and thermally strong and simple packaging at a low cost by clamping and packaging the bare strands of optical fibers in saddle-like fittings without using reinforcing tubes. CONSTITUTION:The bare strands of one or plural optical fibers are enclosed with a flexible insulating member, for example, a split tube B and are placed on saddle-like fittings 4. The fittings 4 have two legs to permit easy packaging on a base plate and has two projects in the upper part thereof to permit easy placing of the optical fibers enclosed with the flexible insulating member. Prescribed holes are opened on a base plate 1 and the fittings 4 are mounted to the base plate by inserting the legs thereof into said holes. The legs of the fittings 4 are soldered to the plate 1. The bare strands of the optical fibers are fastened by using tying bands. The mechanically and thermally strong and easy packaging is thus made possible at a low cost.
