An apparatus for longitudinally welding thermoplastic sheets together is specified, the overlapping sheet edges to be welded together being drawn through in the longitudinal direction between a heated welding wheel and counter-pressing means and brought into contact, if appropriate driving contact, with the latter. In this arrangement, the apparatus is designed in such a way that the counter- pressing means are two pressing rollers mounted axially parallel with respect to the welding wheel and arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction, adjustable if appropriate in their spacing apart.
