PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer composed of alkenyl ether and N-substd. maleimide as essential monomer components, which may be mixed in PVC, PS, etc., for improving their heat resistance, impact resistance and antistatic property and will find various promising applications. CONSTITUTION:The title copolymer is composed of alkenyl ether of formula I (where B is a residue of a compd. contg. 2-8 OH groups; AO is a 2-18C oxyalkylene; R is a 2-5C alkenyl group; R<1> is a 1-40C hydrocarbon group or acyl group; a=0-1,000, b=0-1,000, c=0-1,000, and a+b+c=1-3,000; l=1-8, m=0-7, n=0-7, and l+m+n=2-8) and N-substd. maleimide of formula II [where R<2> is a 1-30C (substd.)aliph. or arom. hydrocarbon group] as essential monomer components, wherein the molar ratio among the alkenyl ether, the N-substd. maleimide and the other monomer is 10-60:30-80:0-40. This copolymer is in liquid or solid form. It may be mixed in PVC, PS, etc. for improving their heat resistance, impact resistance and antistatic property. In solid form, it may find promising applications to adhesives, coating materials, membrane, etc. |
