PURPOSE:To realize encoding whose matching can be easily taken and distortion is little rearranging a code group or an input display pattern which is used for the quantization of vector according to the number and the position of detected edge and taking the matching. CONSTITUTION:An edge detector 5 detects edge distribution on the display pattern reproduced by a display pattern forecasting unit 3 and a controller 6a reads out the code group corresponding to the number of the detected edge from a code book 4 and rearranges it according to the position of the detected edge. A vector quantizer 1 takes the matching with an inputted vector among the code group. As the some code group of the code book or the inputted vector is rearranged according to the detection result, the matching is facilitated when the part where the code value of the code book is high is assigned to the edge part of input and the part where the code value is small is assigned to the part where the edge does not exist. |
