<p>In a fluidized combustion process for removing coke from a particulate material, the material is fluidized in a first zone and a second zone and coke on the particulate material is burned in the first zone to produce a combustion gas containing CO, the conditions in the first zone being such that the CO can convert NOx in the combustion gas to nitrogen. The combustion gas is then passed from the first zone to the second zone and a CO combustion promoter is selectively provided in the second zone to convert CO to CO2.</p> |
