PURPOSE:To efficiently and accurately execute the modification of the present position of a moving body by extracting necessary but minimum roads which are through that the moving body travels on and executing the processing of a matching. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of a distance sensor 1 and a direction sensor 2 are inputted to a signal processing device 3. Under the control of the signal processing device, when the present position and the traveling locus till then of the moving body gets out of the roads on a map, the matching of the pattern of respective roads in the neighborhood and the pattern of the traveling locus of the moving body is obtained, the road for which the matching of the patterns is obtained is regarded as the presently traveling road and the displaying position of the present position and the traveling locus of the moving body is modified onto the road. At that time, the pattern of the roads and the traveling locus of the moving body on the map are broken-line-approximated by segments having an equal length and with the respective broken-line-approximated patterns, the matching of the two is obtained. |
