The system uses a double magazine in which two types of ammunition are stored in vertical channels from which the shells (9) can be advanced by star wheels. The drive can be operated to extract either type and can be reversed to return shells already extracted, so that the capacity can be increased. The conveying system also uses a chain of guides shaped as half cylinders connected by hinge pins and connected to star wheels (36). A separate feed system (30) is used for each magazine. At the supply point of each magazine is a chain of three star wheels (e.g. 18,30,31), the two upstream star wheels engaging the chain of guides, so that the selected shells enter a common vertical feed channel (15). An alternative design uses two pairs of star wheels followed by a single star wheel between them. |
