PURPOSE:To perform excellent gas exchange and obtain a compact structure by a construction wherein a blood flowing along the outside of a hollow yarn enters the inside of an inner cylinder through a passage port, is heat exchanged while passing the outside of a tube for heat exchange, and is discharged from the upper part of the device. CONSTITUTION:A blood A enters the inside of an artificial lung through a blood inlet port 1, flows downward along the outside of a porous hollow yarn 4 provided between an outer cylinder 2 and an inner cylinder 3, and performs gas exchange while in contact with an oxygen gas fed to the hollow part of the hollow yarn 4, via a fine pore. Then the blood is introduced into the inside of the inner cylinder 3 through a predetermined number ports 9, and is stored there temporarily. Accordingly, the blood A maintains thorough contact with the outside of the hollow yarn 4, and a gas exchange is performed sufficiently enough. Then, the blood makes an upward flow along the outside of a tube 8 provided inside the inner cylinder 3 for heat exchange, and is discharged through an outlet port 10 after being heated to a preset temperature. Because this device has the built-in heat exchanger and of an integrated structure, it can be made into a compact configuration. |
