Device making it possible for a moving object using kinetic energy completely to sweep a delimited surface which is encumbered with obstacles. The moving object 2, equipped with a motor gyroscope 4, is fitted with contacts 3 at its periphery, which, in collaboration with a wire 1, delimiting the area to be swept, allow the said moving object to be guided in association with the gyroscopic moment which confers constant polar orientation on the moving object. The wheels 13a and 13b are brought into use in turn according to whether the forwards-backwards F-B or left-right L-R direction is chosen by the sequence which depends on the combination of the contacts 3 earthed by the wire 1. The moving object maintains its heading with the aid of its motor gyroscope. In the lawnmower application the motor 4 supplies the energy in the form of pressurized air through the pipes. <IMAGE>
