PURPOSE:To obtain a humectant cream, capable of stabilizing urea and simultaneously suppressing a rise in pH value and having improved humectant effects, etc., after preservation for a long period, by adding an inorganic ammonium salt to a cream, prepared by using the urea and pyrrolidonecarboxylic acids together and having enhanced humectant effects. CONSTITUTION:A humectant cream obtained by normally adding (C) 0.2-3wt.% inorganic ammonium salt, such as ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate or ammonium phosphate, as a stabilizer for urea to a cream containing (A) about 3-25wt.% urea, (B) pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid or salt thereof, e.g. sodium or potassium salt, in an amount of about 1-5wt.% expressed in terms of 1-50% aqueous solution. Since the urea is stabilized, expected effects are attained even after preservation for a long period. Since a rise in pH value is suppressed, unpleasant ammoniacal smell is not sensed. Furthermore, the amount of evaporated water is small by blending the ingredient (C) and the aimed humectant cream having excellent humectant effects is obtained. |
