PURPOSE: To inhibit the degradation of polyester fibers in curing rubber and also to improve its heat resistance in rubber by imparting and/or including a specific chelating agent to polyester fibers. CONSTITUTION: This polyester fiber for reinforcing rubber is prepared by imparting and/or including 0.1-50 wt.% chelating agent (e.g. one kind selected from benzoin, hydroxyquinoline, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid or the like) to polyester fiber before burying it as a reinforcer in rubber (e.g. in a spinning operation, a drawing one or the like). The fiber is effective as a rubber- reinforcing material in tires, belts or the like because its degradation is remarkably decreased in curing the rubber in a state that the fiber is imparted with the chelating agent and is buried in the rubber, (i.e., natural rubber or a synthetic one) composition. |
