PURPOSE:To sterilize foods and sanitary articles safely and in a short time, by sterilizing the foods and the sanitary articles by using an aqueous solution containing an iodide with specific concentration and diffused ozone generated in a given concentration. CONSTITUTION:An iodide is added to a given amount of water. Potassium iodide is especially preferable as the iodide and ammonium iodide and sodium iodide can be similarly used besides potassium iodide. The iodide is dissolved in 1/100-1/5,000 normality. Materials to be treated are immersed in the aqueous solution of the iodide and ozone is diffused from an ozonizer having corresponding generating ability into the aqueous solution into 1-25mg/l concentration. Foods and sanitary articles are immersed in the aqueous solution for about 2-3min so that all attached microorganisms can be sterilized. Release of ozone in air can be suppressed to ozone concentration of <=an allowable value and the sterilization carried out safely and in a short time. |
