PURPOSE:To prevent local thermal destruction from being generated, by coating the section of the locally strong magnetic field of a current-limiting element, with the metal of high conductivity. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting wire 2 is fixed on an insulating substrate. The curvature section and the straight line sections at both ends of the strong magnetic field of the superconducting wire 2 are coated with metals 3 excellent in conductivity. By this method, immediately after normal conduction is transferred, current comes to flow to the metals 3 and thermal destruction is prevented from being generated. Some time later, the straight line sections of almost uniform magnetic fields occupying the most part of a current-limiting resistor are instantly normalconduction-transferred. As a result, local thermal destruction is not generated. |
