<p>A card-like optical recording medium has a data recording area that includes reference lines and elongated data track regions neighboring the reference lines. To indicate the individual track numbers, at least one track identifier is provided on each data track region or reference line along its lengthwise direction. The track number portion is constituted of a track number data sandwiched between a preamble and a postamble which are not the data of track number. At the time of writing and reading the data, the track identifier is read in the order of the preamble, track number data, and postamble. Therefore, other data are not erroneously read as track numbers, and the region for data track can be reliably distinguished, thus improving the access precision.</p> |
