PURPOSE: To improve the service by providing a commodity information storage and retrieval means and a voice code generating and voice output means so as to utter the name and price of a commodity purchased by a customer in voice. CONSTITUTION: Commodity codes 17 made by source marking are attached to all commodity purchases by a customer. A POS terminals control section 11 uses a scanner 14 to read the commodity code 17. When the commodity code 17 is received, a retrieval signal 18 is fed to a PLU memory 15, from which a corresponding commodity name and price is retrieved and displayed on a display device 13. When a display signal 19 is given to a display device 13, the POS terminal control section 11 generates an utterance code 21 corresponding to the commodity price and the code is fed to a voice synthesis section 16, from which the synthesized voice is sounded from a speaker. |
