摘要 In a supercharged internal combustion engine the exhaust turbocharger is connected by way of a torque converter transmission to the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. In low load ranges the exhaust turbocharger is driven by the crankshaft, as the load increases by the exhaust gases in the exhaust turbine. The slip in the converter increases until no drive is supplied by the crankshaft. The excess combustion air supplied in the low partial load range due to the mechanical bearing drive is drawn off upstream of the internal combustion engine and fed back to the intake side of the compressor. As the load increases, this air recirculation is reduced more and more and at full load a valve completely closes the return passage.
