Motor vehicle for use with trailers with a switching, monitoring and power-supply device (6) for the rear lights (5) of trailers, the monitoring display (2) of which device (6) is preferably arranged in the dashboard. A control line (12) which starts from the corresponding rear light (3) of the traction vehicle is provided here for each rear light of the trailer, e.g. flasher indicator light and/or rear light and/or brake light (5), to be switched or monitored, and the said control line (12) is connected to the power supply line (11) via a semiconductor switching element (10) in each case. The switching element (10) supplies on the output side via the plug-in connector (4) the trailer rear-light (5) assigned to it and the associated monitoring display (2). <IMAGE>
