In this air jet for entangling and texturising continuous filament yarns, compressed air is blow through a jet at right angles to a cylindrical hole running the whole length of the block. The yarn is fed through an angled guide hole to join the hole at an angle of about 45 degrees, in front of and at the same side as the jet, so that the yarn passes the jet before leaving through the far end of the hole. The air from the jet strikes the opposite wall of the hole where it splits into two vortices turning in opposite directions. The angled feed and the air flow combine to force the yarn into this region where it oscillates between one vortex and the other and twists alternately in one direction and then the other. The air jet may be used with either untexturised or pretexturised yarns to produce a limited but uniform degree of bulking. It may also be used with yarns to produce a type of plied yarn. The air pressure required is less than for other types of texturising air jets.
|
