The device for monitoring the position of rolls in a rolling mill relative to the rolling line defined by means of a laser beam, which device comprises a template (1) which can be mounted on the rolls (2) and is in the form of a tube (4), the axis of which coincides with the centre line (0) of the pass, and two frustoconical or frustopyramidal elements (5) of elastic material which are provided with radial holes. The elements (5) are mounted so as to be axially displaceable on the tube (4) and their smaller end surfaces (6) face one another.
