The invention relates to a device for the counting and processing of the number of coins to be sorted into different coin types and for setting the count value and comprises: a counting device for counting the number of coins remaining on a coin track when a preset number for one coin type is reached, a coin-eliminating device which faces a coin-eliminating orifice and which is controlled for the purpose of opening and closing the coin-eliminating device, and a coin-feed blocking device which faces the coin-output orifice in the coin-feed region and which can be controlled in such a way that it blocks the coin feed. The device is characterised in that, when the counted number reaches the preset value, the coin-blocking device is activated in order to block a coin feed, whereupon the coin-eliminating device is controlled in order to release the coin-eliminating orifice, the coins accounted for by the counting device as a result of the blocking of the coin feed being output automatically, and the operation of presetting the same count value being set automatically for a number of coins.
