PURPOSE:To industrially and readily obtain the titled novel substance having digitalis action useful as remedy for cardiopathy, etc., by treating mammalian urine with an adsorbent containing polystyrene polymer, eluting the adsorbed components, subjecting the eluate to gel filtration and separating a specific active fraction. CONSTITUTION:Mammalian urine is initially treated with an adsorbent containing polystyrene or acrylic polymer. The adsorbed components are eluted and the resultant eluate is subjected to gel filtration to separate a fraction exhibiting inhibitory activity against <3>H-ouabain bonding for a digitalis receptor on the surface of erythrocytes and afford the aimed substance. Specifically, in order to fraction having inhibitory activity against <3>H-ouabain, a fraction exhibiting 0.6-0.8 value Kav defined by the formula Kav=(V0-Vtheta/Vt-Vtheta) (Vtheta is a position of eluting unheld components; Vt is end point which is a position of eluting a salt, such as KCl; V0 is a position of eluting the substance to be separated) is preferably separated. |
