The machine comprises a motor 1 driving a shaft 13 actuating a knife 15 via eccentric(s) 16 and a feed roller 32 via a clutch 25 and brake 26. Sensors 52, 19 and 8 respectively signal the extent of feed of the rollers 32, 33, the angular position of the shaft 13 and the picking up of a registration mark 91 on the bag material to a control unit 21, also supplied with data relating to bag size, which controls the clutch and brake for actuating and stopping the roller feed for a cutting stroke to take place. The machine may comprise an additional roller feed (41, 42, Fig. 4) with independent sensing to allow the knife to cut simultaneously two bags of different lengths from side-by-side webs of bag material. <IMAGE> |
