PURPOSE:To obtain a low-toxic antimicrobial agent having excellent controlling activity against true fungi, by using FR109615 or its salts as active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains the compound FR109615 and its salt having controlling action against pathogenic microorganisms, especially pathogenic fungi (e.g. Candida albicans). The active component can be produced by culturing an FR109615-producing strain belonging to Streptomyces genus (e.g. Streptomyces setonii No.7562: FERM P-9444) in a nutrient medium under aerobic condition and separating from the cultured product. The culture is preferably carried out in a deep tank under aerobic condition for mass production. The FR109615 is (1R,2S)-2-aminocyclopentanecarboxylic acid of formula.
