Joining footwear pieces by welding

A boot (10) is made by welding a plurality of separate pieces (12, 14, 16) of the boot together. R-F welding is preferably used. The separate pieces may be of different plastics materials. The sole (18) is injected onto the partially assembled boot as one step in the assembly sequence. The pieces may be formed from PVC bonded to a woven backing material.
