PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ion exchange membrane capable of selectively permeating anions of fewer electric charges for several kinds of anions differing in the number of electric charges, by irradiating the surface of a haloalkyl group-contg. ion exchange member one matrix with ionizing radiation followed by introduction of ion exchange group. CONSTITUTION:The objective ion exchange membrane can be obtained by irradiating the surface of a haloalkyl group-contg. ion exchange membrane matrix with ionizing radiation (pref. ultraviolet light or electron beams from plasma, mercury vapor lamp etc.) followed by introduction of anion exchange group (e.g. -NH2, =NH, identicalN) into the resulting matrix. Said ion exchange membrane matrix can be prepared, for example, by coating or impregnating a membrane-shaped substrate such as film, cloth or net with styrene- divinylbenzene dissolved or not dissolved with an appropriate linear polymer followed by polymerization and then haloalkylation. |
