PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in the resolution even with coarse sampling by providing a means applying a prescribed offset to other picture element so as to apply weighting to a data of a specific picture element in plural picture elements and a nonlinear processing means outputting selectively the picture element data among plural picture elements afterward. CONSTITUTION:When no effect of impulse noise is given to a noted picture element Pn, the data level of the noted picture element Pn in existence within a range of a maximum value MAX0 and a minimum value MIN0 is highly probable. Conversely, if the large noise is superimposed on the noted picture element Pn, the data level of the element Pn in existence at the outside of the range of the maximum value MAX0 and the minimum value MIN0 is highly probable. Thus, when the data level of the noted picture element Pn is between the maximum value MAX0 and the minimum value MIN0, it is regarded as no effect due to noise and the noted picture element data DPn is outputted as it is. If the noted picture element data DPn exceeds the maximum value MAX0, it is substituted by the maximum value MAX0 and when the data is lower than the minimum value MIN0, it is substituted by the minimum value MIN0. |
