PURPOSE:To reduce an installing space of original width size, by providing an electric discharge lamp to illuminate an original and an incandescent lamp to illuminate the original. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is constituted in such a way that the electric discharge lamp 2 and the incandescent lamp 4 to illuminate the original A are arranged so as to be confronted just beneath original platen glass 1 on which the original A is placed. By constituting the device in such way, the disadvantages of the electric discharge lamp and the incandescent lamp can be offset and a function in which respective advantage is combined can be shown. In other words, the adjustment of a light quantity can be performed easily with low consumption compared with a case where respective lamp is used independently, and also, an adjustment range can be increased. Also, uniform illuminance distribution by the installing space equivalent to the effective width of the original or the illuminance distribution corresponding to a copying magnification can be obtained in a stable state, and furthermore, since the original is illuminated by two kinds of light sources from positions confronted with each other, illumination light can be projected even on the binding part of a book, and no shadow is generated on an image. |
