摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide an armor material having a high durability against intrusion of an impact item, showing an easy installation and an easy repairing by a method wherein the material comprises a chemically bonded ceramic material and an explosive substance embedded into the ceramic material or bonded to it. CONSTITUTION: The chemically bonded ceramic materials can contain chemically bonded ceramic of high strength, they are non-organic oxides, for example, oxide metal silicate or the like. They are blended by a special technology and processed. As an additional constituent such as fibers that increase the fracture toughness and multi-hit capability of the armor materials, and/or hard aggregates which cause projectiles striking against the armor materials to have a low striking force, deflect and/or erode projectiles that strike the armor. As one preferred embodiment of the armor material, explosive particles 23 are dispersed in a matrix of chemically bonded ceramic materials 21. In the case that a projectile 27 strikes against armor materials 20, the explosive particles 25 in a launching lotus of the penetrator 27 are exploded to generate a reaction force. As a result, energy of the projectile is dispersed and its penetration into the armor materials 20 is prohibited.</p>
