摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a material for a monomolecular film, which can form an organic monomolecular film having hydrophilic groups on the gas side opposite to the base after it is adsorbed by a hydrophilic base, comprising a linear hydro carbon having a hydrophilic group on one end and an o-diazoquinone compound moiety on the other end. CONSTITUTION:A material for a monomolecular film, characterized in that it is a linear hydrocarbon (desirably, an 8C or higher saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon, especially, 12C or higher one) having a hydrophilic group (e.g., an OH, COOH or SH group) on one end and an o-diazoquinone compound moiety (e.g., o-diazoquinone group) on the other end. A monomolecular film having hydrophilic groups can be produced reading without fail by causing a hydrophilic base to adsorb this material by controlling orientation to form monomolecular film on it and converting the o-diazoquinone compound residues into COOH groups by irradiation with light.
