The identification system consists of a detector and a beacon. The detector 1 comprises: . means G, L1, C1 for transmitting a signal with a first interrogation frequency f towards the beacon; . means L1, L2, C2, C6, 10, 11 for receiving an identification signal in response from the beacon with at least one response frequency f', f'' different from the interrogation frequency f. The beacon 2 comprises: . a digital encoding circuit 20; . means C7, L4, C4, L3 cooperating with this digital encoding circuit to transmit to the detector an identification signal at the response frequency or frequencies; . means L3, C3 to receive from the detector the signal transmitted at the interrogation frequency; . means D, C5 for rectifying and filtering this signal so as to produce a DC voltage Vcc capable of forming a power supply for the digital encoding circuit. <IMAGE>
