In order to provide conductor tracks of electrical assemblies with short-circuit protection, the conductor tracks are provided in the region of the short-circuit protection with a current-flow cross-section which is reduced by recesses and are sealed there on their free surface with a spark-extinguishing medium, such as a covering varnish (lacquer) constructed on a silicone base, for example. The recesses can be incorporated subsequently in existing electronic elements provided with conductor tracks, for example in the form of holes. Such short-circuit protection devices can be produced extremely economically and are reliable in operation, particularly with respect to avoiding the formation of sparks.
