In the case of a safety belt, especially for use in motor vehicles having doubled-over belt sections at one or more points on the belt, the successive layers being connected to one another by means of lock stitches which can be easily torn out, the invention consists in the fact that part of the belt 37, 42 undulates within the doubled-over belt section 36, 39 and is connected to the other part of the belt 36, 42 by means of seams 38, 41 of a predetermined strength. It is especially advantageous that the manufacturing process is considerably simplified and the costs of manufacturing the safety belt are greatly reduced thereby, it being possible to observe with great accuracy the values with regard to strength which are required for safety reasons. <IMAGE>
