High-energy systems, such as those using nuclear energy or microwaves, necessitate the use of efficient protective means which should expediently be used in a graduated manner. Pressure-surge absorption in coupled-on supplementary pipes, in the interior system as it were, is also possible through relatively large gas chambers if said gas chambers are separated by protective diaphragms from a medium which is exposed to pressure surges. It is only when a relatively high pressure surge takes place in the actual case of disruption, that elongate slots in pipelines/parts of the pipeline, likewise covered by protective diaphragms, or similar devices can be brought into play in the manner of rupture discs.
