The invention relates to novel halogenated thiadiazolyloxyacetamides of the general formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aralkyl, R<2> represents an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy or alkynyloxy, or R<1> and R<2> together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded form an optionally substituted saturated or unsaturated heterocycle which can contain further hetero atoms and to which a benzo group may be fused, X represents N or the group C-X<1>, in which X<1> represents halogen, and Y represents N or the group C-Y<1>, in which Y<1> represents fluorine, bromine or iodine, with the proviso that in each case X or Y represents N (but X and Y do not simultaneously represent N), to a process for their preparation, and to their use as herbicides.
