A device of the said type in connection with an electronic fuel device has the disadvantage that in mobile operation the air mass flow sensor signal is incorrect for determining the injection signal, due to the proportion of air which flows into the intake pipe downstream of the throttle valve. In the case of a new device, it is therefore proposed that in a mobile operating state, detected by way of acceleration detector and decision circuit devices, the air mass is determined from performance characteristics addressed with the signals of an engine speed and intake pressure sensor and the calculation used as basis for the injection signal. Use of the engine in a motor vehicle is thereby possible, optimum power output, economy and low pollutant emissions being achievable.
