PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a power source and to simplify the structure of an optical rotary switch by providing a rotary part with a switching means for switching the transmission modes of light guided into the end surface part of the rotary part according to the angle of rotation of the rotary part. CONSTITUTION:This rotary switch has a fixed part 11 provided to a light guide-in side end part, a fixed part 12 provided to a light sending side end part, and the rotary part 2 which is freely rotatable through the operation of a lever, a pull cord, etc., about both fixed parts 11 and 12. Two optical fibers 31 and 32 as a light guide-in part are fixed penetratingly on the light guide-in side fixed part 11 and the tip end parts of the optical fibers 31 and 32 are inserted into an annular groove 4 formed in the end surface of the rotary part. Two optical fibers 51 and 52 and a right-angled prism 6 as a means which switches the transmission modes, i.e. straight forward traveling, reflection, and cutoff transmission modes of light guided through the optical fibers 31 and 32 are fixed in the rotary part 2 so as to enable alignment with the optical axes of the optical fibers 31 and 32 according to the angle of rotation of the rotary part 2 respectively; and optical fibers 71 and 72 are fixed penetratingly on the light transmission side fixed part 12 while aligned with the optical fibers 31 and 32, and tip parts are inserted into an annular groove 8. |
