PURPOSE:To simplify a base array determining device and to reduce its cost by making an exciting light beam along the axis of a cylinder, deflecting the incident exciting light beam by 90 deg., and making it incident on a cylindrical motor-driven gel surface. CONSTITUTION:Electrophoresis gel 2 is formed on the wall surface of the cylinder, electrolyte tanks 3 and 4 are arranged above and below the gel 2, and then a voltage is applied from a power source 5. Further, the exciting light beam 1 is made incident along the cylinder axis, and bent at right angles by a plane single surface mirror 6 fitted on the rotary shaft of a pulse motor 9 to illuminate the surface of the gel 2. Then a disk 7 and a photocoupler 8 are used to perform origin detection and the mirror 6 is rotated at a high speed simultaneously. Then the rotary shaft of the motor 9 is aligned with the center axis of the gel 2, the beam 1 from a light source is made incident on the surface of the gel 2 at invariably the same distance, and a luminous flux spot on the surface of the gel 2 is prevented from varying diameter and changing its shape. Thus, the structure is simplified and the cost is reduced. |
