Process for producing thermoplastic prepregs

For producing thermoplastic prepregs, a multiplicity of filaments are drawn via a spreading device which is located in a bath of thermoplastic melt. At the same time, the spreading device is heated. Owing to the high dwell times and temperatures, there is the risk of the melt decomposing. This is avoided if a filament layer 3 is passed through an extrusion die 1, connected to an extruder. The extrusion die 1 has in the centre a filament nozzle 6. The melt channels 8a, b open out laterally into the filament nozzle. In this way, the filaments leave the extrusion die in a layer of melt.
