A table-type grinding apparatus for surface- and relief-grinding in particular of cross cutters and discs is proposed, having a horizontal wheel stand with a cup wheel situated on one side of the drive shaft and a circumferential wheel situated at the other end. The drive shaft runs horizontally with respect to a baseplate supporting the wheel stand, on which baseplate there is seated furthermore a rotatably mounted, manually rotatable spindle with manually actuable feed drive, at the free end of which there is seated a plate-like workpiece receptacle in the form of a magnetic clamping disc. The spindle axis runs parallel to the drive shaft and is located in front of the latter. The apparatus is extremely simple, inexpensive, compact, lightweight and very well arranged. It makes possible a variety of grinding operations.
