A device for positioning parts of a vehicle body comprises a first clamping device for a lower part which is arranged and mounted on an aligning plate which is provided in an assembly device for vehicle bodies, second clamping devices for a right-hand and left-hand side part and a third clamping device for upper body parts which are carried by a suspension rail conveyor. An arcuate carrying mechanism is installed on the aligning plate of the clamping device at right angles to the track of the assembly line. A positioning and supporting assembly is provided on this carrying mechanism and on the second clamping devices, which positioning and supporting assembly positions the third clamping device with respect to the first and second clamping devices.
