Known wing mirrors can be mechanically or electrically adjusted by hand from the inside of the vehicle, via switches on the dashboard, central console or door lining and via flexible switch boxes which may, for example, be connected to the dashboard by means of a cable. Operation from the driving position is not possible if switches are mounted at fixed installation points. A flexible switchbox is a control element which involves a considerable outlay and cannot be integrated without difficulty into the overall design of the operating switches and operating appliances of a motor vehicle. According to the invention, an adjustable wing mirror (1) for a motor vehicle, especially a utility vehicle, having a switching element for adjustment of the mirror is provided which is arranged on the inside outline of the driver's cab (2) in the region of the operator, for example on the dashboard and can be pulled out of a lower position into an optimum operating position by means of a telescopic rod (5), in which position the operator (3) adopts his/her usual ergonomically favourable driving position. <IMAGE>
