Shoes with vulcanised soles showing edges with bands of two different colours separated by a perfectly - defined straight, broken or otherwise - shaped line, are made by use of a band with two layers, are vulcanised and the other vulcanisable. The band is placed around the contour of the mould and is slightly less in height, so that during vulcanisation, the outer layer of vulcanised material remains stable, while the inner layer is squeezed outwards, occupying the rest of the marginal zone of the mould, the band remaining completely bonded to the sole after vulcanisation.
