The cord supply consists of a continuous band of paper or similar material, with two series of perforations, the first being of large equal equidistant holes and the second of pairs of small holes between the large holes. The trying cord, pref. in equal cut lengths, is stock to the band with the circumferential part surrounding two adjacent large holes, precisely over their edges and with a connecting branch both circumferential portions. - One free end of each branch lies tangentially to the outside of each hole, and an ordinary slip knot is formed in cord between the connecting branch and each free end, so situated that the sliding branch is exactly the connecting branch between both knots, thus allowing both ends of a circular sausage to be tied in a single operation.
